A Prayer for Times of Difficulty or Sorrow

When my soul is bowed down to the dust, restore me to life as You have promised.  I recounted my troubles; You answered me; answer me now and teach me Your statutes. Help me to understand the way of Your precepts, that I may talk of Your wondrous deeds.  My soul is dissolving in tears of sorrow; sustain me as indeed You have promised.  Keep me far from ways that are false; graciously teach me Your Torah.  I have chosen the way of faithfulness; I have kept Your judgments before me.  I have clung to Your testimonies; put me not to shame, O Lord.  I will eagerly pursue Your commandments when You enlarge my understanding.

Traditional Prayer for Healing

O God of compassion, Source of healing, God who is near to all who call in truth, I pray to You in behalf of myself.  Accept my pleas for my recovery.  Grant me the courage and strength which required to face this crisis, and guide those who minister to me.  Restore me to health and vigor, O faithful and merciful God of healing.  Amen.

Trust in God’s Mercy

Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful; for it is in You that I take refuge.  I take shelter under Your wings until calamities have passed.  I shall cry to God, the Most High, to God who ordains goodness for me.  God delivers me from all my tormentors; from heaven God sends love and truth.
