Where to find Jewish books, videos and tapes:  On-line services like amazon.com have many titles.  However, if you are in a city with a sizable Jewish population, you will have a much wider selection of books, audiotapes, and videos than those listed here.  With a few exceptions, all the materials listed here can be ordered through amazon.com by clicking on the title on this page.  You can also look for special materials at the J. Levine Web site:  http://www.levinejudaica.com/.

The Journey Continues, The Ma'yan Passover Haggadah
2000, Mayan, the Jewish Women's Project, JCC of the Upper West Side, New York

This is a feminist-oriented Haggadah, based on the annual seders sponsored by Mayan in New York City. There is extensive use of transliteration throughout. Prayers in Hebrew are given in both traditional language (male gender) and also in the feminine case. The biographies of important Jewish women at the back of the book provide an excellent resource for discussion.

A Night of Questions: A Passover Haggadah
Rabbi Joy Levitt and Rabbi Michael
2000, Strassfeld (Editor), The Reconstructionist Press

This is an outstanding Haggadah for people with a basic understanding of the traditional seder. Simple prayers are offered in Hebrew in both traditional language (male gender) and in gender neutral Hebrew. Transliteration is offered for the most “popular” sections like the basic blessings, the four questions and all the traditional songs. While this is not a “feminist ” haggadah, Miriam is well represented with the inclusion of Debby Friedmans Miriams song and a ceremony for the use of “Miriams Cup.”

BOOKS FOR CHILDREN:
Let My Babies Go! A Passover Story
1998, Sarah Willson, Simon Spotlight, New York

The Rugrats enact the story of Passover in this delightful book based on the television series. The illustrations will delight the entire family and young children will especially enjoy the illustrations of the ten plagues. And who will be able to forget that heartfelt plea, “Let my babies go!” Highly recommended.
