Blessings for the Festive Meal

Before eating bread, recite the following prayer:


Baruch Atah Adonai, Elohaynu melech ha'olam ha-motzi lechem min ha-aretz.
Praised are You, Adonai our God, Sovereign of the Universe, Who brings forth bread from the earth.


Before drinking wine or grape juice, recite the following prayer:


Baruch Atah Adonai Elohaynu Melech Ha'olam borei p-ri ha-gafen.
Praised are You, Adonai our God, Sovereign of the Universe, Creator of the fruit of the vine.


Before eating foods such as cakes and cookies, recite the following prayer:


Baruch Atah Adonai Elohaynu Melech Ha'olam boray meenay mezonote.
Praised are You, Adonai our God, Sovereign of the Universe, Who creates various kinds of food.


Before drinking all other food and drink:


Baruch Atah Adonai, Elohaynu Melech Ha'olam sheh ha-kol nihyeh bid'varo.
Praised are You, Adonai our God, Sovereign of the Universe, Whose word brings all things into being.
